Getting Started

Feed Ranger works by monitoring your RSS Subscriptions, and delivering articles to your chosen productivity app as they are published. To facilitate this, you need to:

  1. Sign in to Feed Ranger
  2. Create a project
  3. Subscribe to one or more RSS feeds

Sign in to Feed Ranger

Feed Ranger uses Sign In with Google to easily and securely identify users. Anyone with a Google account can simply click the Sign In with Google button to create, and access, their Feed Ranger account without having to remember a new password.

Create Your First Project

Feed Ranger publishes articles to other apps, and it makes this connection via Projects. Each Project connects to exactly one third-party app, through a connection that is configured differently depending on the selected app.

To create a project, click the “Create Project” button, on the Feed Ranger Dashboard. The Create Project form is displayed:

Generally, a project is configured as follows:

  • Enter a Project Name. This name will be used to create the corresponding “container” in the third-party app.

  • Select an Integration, from the available choices

  • Enter the integration-specific connection details

  • If a “Test” button is present, click this button to confirm that a connection can be established with the external application

  • Click the “Create” button to save the project

As mentioned, each third-party app will require somewhat different connection details; For instructions specific to each app, please refer to the integrations section.

Subscribing to RSS Feeds

The last step before Feed Ranger starts magically delivering content to your apps is to subscribe to one or more RSS Feeds.

  • Select a project in the left sidebar

  • Click the “Feeds” tab:

  • Click the “Add Feed” button to open the Add Feed Dialog:

  • Enter the URL of the RSS Feed you would like to add. Feed Ranger will check whether the URL points to a valid feed and, if so, the “Add” button will be enabled. Click “Add” to save this feed to your project.

Conclusion

That’s it! If you follow these steps, you will have created a Feed Ranger account, created your first project (and linked it to an external app), and subscribed to your first feed. As new articles are published, you should see them appear in the external app.

We recommend installing our Browser Extension, for the most convenient user experience.
